It was a place Jack usually never came to, the swimming pool. However, his Knight Master had sent him there to do a few laps. "You can't be ALL muscle." He had said, "We must make you agile, like a cat."
At this point, Jack was imagining a wet, peeved-off, kitty in his mind. It looked rather pathetic, but was the epitome of how he felt.
Peeking out of his changing stall, Jack looked around quickly making sure no one was there. So far, there was none.
"Well, might as well get this over with." Jack muttered to himself, and with a great rush of movement, he was out the door, across the room to the swimming pool, and in the water with a mighty leap.
"BAH!!" He yelled as soon as his head broke surface, swimming like mad for the now distant edge of the pool. "COLD!" He popped himself out of the pool, and just let his feet dangle in the water. He shivered, and a picture of a drowning cat came to his mind.
"I hate swimming..."

Artemis let out a quiet shriek as someone jumped into the swimming pool, even though all she saw was a shadow, she knew she was in trouble. She'd been peacefully floating around when suddenly a tidal wave was sweeping over her, filling her mouth and nose with water.
She was about to tan the person's hide verbally when she saw who it was. It was... the guy from the ball... the one she'd been flirting with.... JACK!! She was still going to give him a peice of her mind, when she heard what he said.
"I hate swimming..."
Artemis burst out laughing, he'd dive-bombed into the pool and he hated swimming? No wonder he hadn't seen her, he had just wanted to get in and get out!

Jack jumped at a laugh. He thought there was no one in this pool! d**n!
Scrunching himself up slightly, as of ready to jump to his feet at any moment, he noticed the origin of the laugh.
"Oh... Um... Hi Artemis." He said, relaxing a little but turning a bright red color. He was embarrassed that she had seen that display of weakness.

Artemis' laugh almost increased as she saw how embarrassed and surprised he was, though she was able to reign it back in, letting out a final chuckle before mostly composing herself.
She swam over to the side of the pool pulling herself out and sat down beside him, giving him a few more moments to forget about his embarrassment.
"Hello Jack!" She paused, "I don't think I've seen you in here before?" Then just because she had to, she added, "Do you commonly divebomb into the pool, sending tidal waves everywhere?"

Though usually laughter angered him a bit, hers was a gentle, good natured laugh, and oddly, it calmed him to the point where he was nearly laughing at his own stupidity.
He let himself loosen back into his original position, his feet dangling into the water, relaxing. She jumped up and sat next to him, and stayed mercifully quiet until the rest of his embarrasment went away.
Again, Jack went a little red at her statement, but laughed it off as he realized how goofy that must have looked.
"If you haven't noticed, I hate swimming. I wanted to get in, do what I was supposed to, and then get out. That was my master plan." Jack nodded a little to himself, and then said quietly, just loud enough for Artemis to hear, "A master plan that failed horribly."
He turned to her, watching her laughing face. "And what are you doing here today, m'lady?"

She shook her head, "I actually hadn't noticed..." She smiled, it was fun to tease him, so far he'd taken it good naturedly.
She wrinkled her nose. "Aww... poor Jackie! You had to get wet." She chuckled, "It did indeed fail." She hmmed, wondering if she was strong enough to pull or push him into the pool... Probably not. She wasn't a strong person to begin with, though she had gotten noticeably stronger since she'd joined the riders, and Jack was.... a giant.
"I actually came out here to swim and to have fun." She paused, and looked at him, her eyes curious, "Why don't you like to swim?"

Jack frowned in a signature way of saying "Bah! She is mocking me!" Edward had named his frown as so, ever since he saw that look on Jack so often.
"Wet, indeed!" He attempted to run his hand through his hair, to only find it stuck in the wet mat of his hair. It hurt a little, so Jack tried to come out the way he had came. It worked, but now his hair was all tangled. He shook it to try and make it fall properly.
"By yourself?" Jack asked, bewildered. "Isn't that a tad boring?"
"Um," Jack paused, not sure he wanted to dwell into that story. He turned, at looked at the elder girl for a moment. He figured he good natured enough to hear that story.
"When I was little, I loved to swim. My brother thought it would be funny to hold me under for as long as my breath could hold. He held me under so long that I fainted. Luckily, my mom was on shore and noticed, and told him to let me go. She then swam to get me, and I woke up to a sopping wet, relieved mom. I don't go swimming much after that. I am glad that I'm bigger then my brother now though."

She smiled, as he frowned, he was cute in a giant-sort-of-way..... She shook her head, men could get so upset about their prides.
She chuckled, and watched amused as he tried to untangle and flatten his hair. She shook her head, clenching fingers that were itching to neaten and untangle his hair.
She nodded, "Who else would I go swimming with?" She shrugged, "You get used to doing this type of stuff on your own when you're an only child."
She winced at his story. She hadn't known siblings could be so cruel. As a single child she didn't know any of his troubles. "Well, I can understand your aversion to water now. Though..." She shook her head, "I hadn't really thought that older siblings could be like that."

"Heh" Jack said when he noticed her looking at his hair. "It's always a losing battle when I try to flatten it."
"Well, I thought you would have a bevy of friends who would be giggling at my expense, or something like that. Or you know, other Queen's Riders." Jack couldn't imagine what it would be like as an only child ((Oh, the Irony!)), but he supposed it must be real lonely at times. "In that case, I am very sorry I disturbed your not so rare "alone time!" He said it with a smile, just to show he was goofing a bit, for he wasn't really sorry at all.
Jack shrugged. "They're not all that bad. It's just boy siblings tend to want to see who's better, which I'm OK with. You've probably met my brother. He's a Queen's Rider like you." He though about other siblings. "As another view, Edward loves his sister. Only fights with her over stupid stuff, but would never lay a hand on her."

((Isn't it though!))
She nodded, though she couldn't help but roll her eyes, she doubted that he'd ever had a woman try to flatten it. Cause if a woman had tried, she would have succeeded, knowing how to deal with horrible hair was something that most women had a knack for.
She shoook her head, "No. Most of us head into the City on our days off, and I don't tend to go there much. Nothing against the City, I love shopping, but I usually hang around the Palace on days like this."
She laughed, shaking her head, "No. It's not fine, I demand that you leave at once!" She spoke in a haughty voice, though there was still a smile on her face.
She shrugged, boys.... who could understand them. She shrugged, "I may know him." She nodded, understanding what he was saying about sibling. It all depended on the gender and temperment of them.
